Logo Design Challenge
I like this guy and I think he's got some really solid stuff to share.

There's a band up in my neck of the woods called The Connection and they're and old school, stripped down rock and roll band. Recently they posted on Facebook that they're looking for a designer to help them out with a t-shirt design for their upcoming European tour, so naturally I jumped at the chance to help them out.
We worked through a few different ideas. They have a really raw, edgy vibe so it was all about bold typefaces and a no-frills approach. Their new album is called "Let It Rock!" and they wanted that on the shirt as well. They've used an arrow motif in the past so I decided to stick with that. They also used to use a guitar headstock design but ultimately decided it was a little too 60's for their taste
So I dropped the headstock shape and when I released and deleted the clipping mask on the shape, I was left with this really cool arrow pattern. I really was hoping they would go with that one, but they decided it was too busy.
Then we thinned it out even more! We eventually landed on this pretty plain, but in your face design that used the arrow in a cool way. I angled the text to help with that raw/edgy vibe they have and we ended up with the final product!
Check out the little gallery below for the progression of ideas!
So throughout this whole project I had sort of wished I had more time and I could take it in some other directions. I'm seriously not done with that arrow pattern idea... but if you think about it, this is totally their style and I still can't really believe they're into it!
Maybe some European super-fans will be wearing my design soon! How cool is that?!
This logo has been completed for a while now, but I'm just getting around to sharing it. DSD Media Studios is the multimedia division of Do Something Different.
In their own words, "DSD Media Studios offers high end lifestyle photography that captures true moments of relationships, families, and events to be enjoyed for years to come through our timeless portrait products."
This is the first time I've seen my work somewhere outside of the web. What a trip! I can't complain. Feels pretty good to have something like this under my belt.
The CFS logo is the first logo I've made for DSD to be used by the client! I'm really excited.
I prefer the green version with the silver mountains, but we're likely to use it over white more often than not, so we'll go with the second version.
Apple just announced they'll be hosting a special even next Wednesday, September 12 presumably for the iPhone 5. Check out the story here on The Loop.
But why am I talking about this? Because of the invitation of course. Check out how the shadow on the 12 is actually a 5. No mystery there... Nicely done, Apple (as usual)
However, does this mean they're calling it "iPhone 5"? Since the new iPad is called "The New iPad", it seems a bit strange that they'll keep the number convention for the iPhone, no?
I've been working up some logo ideas for a company called McHugh Measuring which is run by a couple of friends of mine. Measuring companies aren't really something you see every day, so this one was a little hard to research!
I ended up just going with something geometric, yet contrasted by the smooth gradients and glare (which I'm debating over dropping).
Anyway, they're posted in the Work section now!
I've got a new logo in the works and I think I'm on to something. I'm not 100% confident in it yet, but I'm happy with my start. The "W" is supposed to give the impression of the dog's front legs (hopefully that is conveyed well). I added a wagging tail for extra cuteness/clarification.
Any and all comments are welcome! This design was partially inspired by ijoshua's "Puppy Website" logo on logopond.com
Of course I've been playing around with font and things like that. Right now it does look pretty bland... I feel like maybe it could use a drop shaddow or something behind/under "Westport".
Thanks everyone!
A friend of mine wants me to help her design a logo for her up and coming photography business (pure coincidence...) The name of the company is going to be Wink Photography.
That sort of makes itself, right? But does it? I'm so worried about making the wrong thing when I know that out there in the ether somewhere is the best possible logo for that name. There's almost too many possibilities!
I'd like to try to incorporate some, if not all of the following elements (somewhat obviously):
I wish I could wake up in the middle of the night with the single greatest idea the world has ever seen for this project, but I don't find that very likely. Any tips or suggestions are more than welcome!
Okay! The new logo for Expressions 4Ever Photographers has been posted to the gallery. Check it out and let me know what y'all think!
