Through a friend I was able to find a great deal on a Canon 430EX II speedlite. I'm really interested in checking out off camera flash photography techniques. I'll probably want to pickup a shoot-through umbrella at some point too...

Anyway, I think it should be here by week's end. I've used a speedlite in the past, but I never learned much about using it properly. More often than not I was just using it to bounce light off a ceiling or something. Even then, I probably wasn't doing it right. Should be fun! Maybe once the weather warms up I can check out some outdoor flash photos too. I just love the balance they provide to an image. It's something you can't really put your finger on a lot of the time, er, well at least I can't. It seems to be a great way to get your subject to really pop off of the background.

So I'll probably post a "review" and some of my findings soon!
